Meet Kat
“When I have a student come to me struggling with any aspect of their driving and I can explain to them how something is done and why, then it clicks with them, that light bulb moment ... that's what makes this job so rewarding.”
Instructor Kat is one of the most respected driving instructors in southern Tasmania, with more than 13,000 individual driving lessons under her seatbelt.
“I grew up in Kingborough and the Channel so I know the roads around these parts inside-out. I use all the hidden nooks and crannies to take you through different driving scenarios, so you’ll be ready to tackle anything from a narrow country lane to a highway.”
When Kat’s not out on the road, you’ll find her watching 80s animations like Astro Boy, exploring the Tasmanian wilderness off-road, or singing along badly to a well-used copy of 1994 Nirvana’s ‘MTV Unplugged in New York' CD that she stole from her brother.
Pssst! Hey guys, I get that driving can be intimidating when you're starting out. I still remember the terror I felt getting behind the wheel as a learner. I want to reassure you that making mistakes is part of learning. I don't want you to feel silly for not knowing any of it. That's why I do what I do, so I can show you. I would rather the mistakes are made with me, in my safe dual-controlled car, before you're driving solo. We can iron out any issues you have and correct any mistakes so when you are captain of your own ship, you are best prepared to be safe and make excellent decisions. - Kat.

Most cars these days are automatic, and so is ours. Learning to drive in an automatic lets you concentrate more on manoeuvring and positioning on the road and less on complicated dance moves.
